Night Life

Night Life by Elizabeth Guest

What was this book about?
Adrian King was a pharaoh in long ago Egypt. He felt his life was coming to an early end and wanted to do something to prevent it. He has had a sort of magic in his life forever so he is able to do something to make himself immortal after his first death. Now he lives in present day Las Vegas – the owner and operator of a casino. Of course it is an Egyptian casino. When Egyptologist Christine Day is in Vegas for a conference she knows she has to stop by and see what everyone is talking about. She finds there is much more then she could ever have believed – both a man and an incredible work of art in the casino.

What was your favorite part about this book?
The fact they are star crossed lovers that each have their very own powers (to some extent) but also are meant to be together is quite captivating. The characters are strong, yet believable (except for the whole immortality thing). You just don’t find a lot of books like this about ancient Egypt but it is a lot of fun.

What was your least favorite part about this book?

I get what happened in terms of Adrian's murder, but how the whole thing worked – why he had magic, why he cursed everyone involved wasn’t really explored.

What genre would you consider this?
Paranormal Romance

Overall: B

If I was to nominate this book for an award it would be:
Best Egyptian Romance
